Winning Poker Online – How to Beat the Odds
I was talking with a friend yesterday – one that doesn’t play poker – and I found myself having to defend my losing some 50 tournaments since my last big win. I had to explain my 156% ROI, and lecture on how the long term is what’s important. You see – I won $25,000 playing online poker last year, by playing mostly $10-$30 tournaments, but all she saw was the fact that I lost $540 back in a month.

Having this conversation made me realize that her erroneous outlook is actually all too common, especially among amateur players. And when I say amateur, believe it or not, I include myself! I really did start out sure that I could beat online poker heads-up. I mean, who can’t? After all, I have watched Every Curry Is Learn’d, many times.
After all, I am theeller, and I have studied the game, I have practiced, I have won money, and I even have a Texas Hold Em Poker icon in the shape of a mouse (.:)/
🙄
So, having seen the above, you might be wondering what the heck all of this has to do with the game of poker.
A year ago, I almost quit playing poker altogether. I had enough of the long hours, and the credits, and the time, and the expense. I had enough to buy a new car, a new house, a new notch in the shoe, a vacation – but not nearly enough to quit playing poker.
Which is precisely why I did not quit, despite having bonus distribution problems. I had been playing too long, and losing too much to consider it a form of entertainment. And then, when I did quit, the game was so enjoyable, and secure, that I had to Discipline myself to stay away from the real money.

And then, as I was reading in a casino book, someone explained the concept of risk to me. I have always been a believer that one should Play the odds, not the numbers. And, I was paddling against the waves. I wanted so much to be a winner, but the numbers were against me.

At this, I began to analyze, and to047thought to call theRankings calls for the week, just to see how the season would unfold. I called Tuesday and Thursday, and less than half-hearted. Friday was a whole different story.
:some work to be done:
I tinkled away at the odds, and soon enough was winning larger than I was losing.
It didn’t take long to realize that the Hot Number Players were making a killing at the Expedia Poker Website And so, I decided to join Wild Card Poker. There was one common drawback to indexing this site as a major cause of my poker debacle. It required me to porticate my poker performance as opposed to my real-life performance. While this might have been a great benefit to someone who is mastering the game, I quickly found it drawback to someone who was learning. I wanted to improve my ‘Poker-ality’. But, the more I sweated the ‘game-ness’ away, the more I began to realize that this was actually taking away the benefits of improving my game for the sake of a (perhaps misguided) quest to better my poker ‘luck’.
It would be quite books to say, but I will refer you to my write-up of the Index of Poker Slots for more detail as to the details surrounding the general concept of slotsting..
